He has over two decades of experience in the fields of environmental management, sustainable development, sustainable business, natural resource management and inclusive growth. He has most recently consulted for the World Bank under the Secondary Education Improvement Programme (SEIP) as well as the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) under the Ghana Agricultural Sector Investment Programme and the Promoting a Value Chain Approach to Climate Change Adaptation (ProVACCA).
Dr. Twum has assisted and provided leadership to several SMEs to develop and implement sustainable business practices as beneficiaries of the Ghana Climate Innovation Centre – a sustainable business and innovation hub funded by the Governments of Denmark and the Netherlands through the World Bank, and managed by a consortium comprising Ashesi University, Ernst and Young, SNV Ghana and the United Nations University.
Dr. Twum has also consulted for the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, Ministry of Finance, Social Investment Fund, GIZ, National Disaster Management Organisation, (NADMO), the Environmental Protections Agency (EPA), SNV among others.
Dr. Eric Twum is the Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Green Growth Solutions, a sustainable development policy think-tank and consulting firm in Ghana. Dr. Twum is a Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) and a full member of the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment, United Kingdom (IEMA, UK).
Some of the works of Dr. Eric Twum includes development of interventions to green the charcoal sector and an accompanying implementation plan, development of Ghana’s Climate Change and Green Economy Learning Strategy, development of GHG inventory and uncertainty standards for Ghana, development of climate finance MRV with budget codes liked to the National budget to track climate change related expenditure at the national level, development of MRV template to monitor the performance and impact of climate actions, development of financial policies for the Social Investment Fund, development of the operational manual for Ghana’s National Designated Authority (NDA) of the Green Climate Fund, Development of Ghana’s Drought Management Plan, among several others.
With funding from Heinrich Boll Foundation, Dr. Twum has recently led the training of Financial Managers, Bankers and Top-level Executives of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Green Bonds and Sustainable Financing and Sustainable Infrastructure. Dr. Twum also hosts and is the lead discussant for a series of national and regional policy dialogues on sustainable development, climate change, environmental management, inclusive growth, sustainable business, and energy including the West Africa Clean Energy and Environment Conference (WACEE)
